During the month of September, Waterloo Regional Police conduct Project Safe Semester. Project Safe Semester’s aim is to establish and maintain a highly visible police presence in the community to proactively dissuade and discourage unlawful activity and public disorder while responding to occurrences in a timely and efficient manner.
The enforcement initiatives are conducted in an effort to discourage those persons who engage in unlawful, disruptive, and unsafe activities. The paramount consideration during this project is public and officer safety. On the 7th of September police responded to a large house party on Tamarack Street in Waterloo where there were approximately 150 people attending a kegger” at a university student house. Police shut down the party and seized 4 kegs of beer. 4 University students were charged with: 1)Unlawfully keeping liquor for sale
