(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On June 13, 2016, at approximately 5:39 p.m., the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police, the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Fire Department, responded to a single motor vehicle crash.
A silver Dodge sport utility vehicle (SUV) was travelling eastbound on Elijah Road, when it lost control on the gravel roadway and entered a north side ditch. It struck a culvert, and rolled onto the passenger side, coming to rest with its roof against a hydro pole.
The four occupants of the vehicle, all youths from Oneida First Nation of the Thames First Nation, Ontario, were transported with serious injuries, to hospital.
The driver, a 15-year-old male, is currently listed in fair condition. The front seat passenger, a 12-year-old male, is currently listed in critical condition. One of the rear seat passengers, a 10-year-old male, is currently listed in good condition. The other rear seat passenger, a 6-year-old male, is currently listed in fair condition.
The Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI), are assisting with the investigation.
As a result, Elijah Road, between Bodkin Road and Fairgrounds Road, was closed until approximately 1:00 a.m. on June 14, 2016. It has since been re-opened.
