(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Essex County along with The Ministry of Transportation conducted a joint traffic initiative on June 9, 2015 in Lakeshore.
In total, twenty eight commercial motor vehicles were inspected. Fifteen of the twenty eight were placed out of service for various defects. Licence plates were removed from four vehicles as they were unfit for the road. Forty Provincial Offences Act charges were laid along with two Criminal Code Charges. One male was arrested for breaching a recognizance.
These joint initiatives are not limited to special yearly events such as Operation Corridor (see additional media release). The OPP is committed to ensuring the safety of those travelling provincial roadways and highways and will continue to participate in these joint projects.
“Combining the expertise of OPP officers and MTO officers, a collaborative success is guaranteed to help reduce the risk of collisions on our area roadways,” says Essex County OPP Detachment Commander Glenn MILLER.
