(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Friday July 29, 2011 at approximately 6:30 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer was monitoring the speed of traffic with a laser speed measuring device along Perth Line 20 west of St.Pauls. This enforcement is part of the ramped up Civic Holiday Weekend OPP traffic initiative.
The officer was obtained a speed reading on a Chevrolet Impala was observed travelling at 141 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The car was directed to pull over and came to a safe stop. As a result of travelling 61 km above the speed limit, the 19 year old male driver from Kitchener will have to appear in Stratford Court on September 13, 2011 to answer to the charge of race a motor vehicle”. The male’s driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was impounded for a week.
The motoring public is reminded that the Perth County OPP will continue their ramped up traffic enforcement this Civic Holiday Weekend.”
