(South Huron, ON) On August 10, 2009 at approximately 8:00 am a Huron OPP officer observed two vehicles travelling eastbound on Thames Road near the border with Perth County. The officer was operating moving radar at the time. The officer observed the second vehicle to be gaining on the first vehicle at a significant rate of speed. The radar reading confirmed that the vehicle was travelling in excess of 50 kph above the posted speed limit of 90 kph.
The driver was stopped and was charged under the Street Racing Legislation. Ricky McLean (50) of Port Franks will answer to his charge in the Goderich Provincial Court on September 3, 2009. The vehicle he was driving was towed and impounded for 7 days and his drivers’ licence was suspended for 7 days.
