14 Year Old Pedestrian Struck – Driver Charged

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment has charged an 18-year-old female after police investigated a motor vehicle collision at a Main Street South, Waterford, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.

On Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at approximately 11:54 a.m., police were called to the Main Street South address for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Through investigation, it has been determined that a pedestrian was crossing within the crosswalk at Main Street South when a vehicle travelling southbound on Main Street South attempted to turn east onto Thompson Road East. The driver of the vehicle subsequently came into contact with a 14-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario resulting in minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

As a result of police investigation, 18-year-old Katherine BROOKSHAW of Norfolk County, Ontario was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with fail to yield to pedestrian on roadway.
