136 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Sunday July 24, 2011 shortly before 2 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer was monitoring the speed of traffic along Perth Line 20 east of St.Pauls using a laser speed measuring device.

The officer observed an approaching west bound Mercedes whose speed was measured at 136 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The Mercedes was directed to pull over and came to a safe stop.

As a result of traveling 56 km above the speed limit, the 66 year old male driver from Waterloo will have to appear in Stratford court on August 23, 2011 to answer to the charge of racing a motor vehicle. The male’s driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was impounded for a week.
