(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police have charged two young teenagers following a traffic stop on August 3, 2013. Just after 11:30 a.m. police encountered an Arctic Cat All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and a Kawasaki dirt bike travelling on Stone School Line. The officer spoke with the driver’s and found them both to be driving without a driver’s licence. In addition, they were unlawfully driving off-road vehicles on a prohibited highway.
As a result, a 13 year old boy and a 14 year old boy, both from Central Huron have been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Unlawfully Drive Off-Road Vehicle on a Highway. They have scheduled court appearances for Provincial Offences Court – Goderich on September 20, 2013.
Huron OPP would like to remind ATV drivers and the parents of young ATV drivers that it is mandatory to be at least 16 years of age and hold a valid class G2 or M2 licence or greater to legally drive an ATV on a highway. In addition, drivers are reminded to check with the municipality to confirm that ATVs are allowed on its roads, and if so, whether there are any restricted areas or rules they need to know about.
