(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TWP, ON) –On May 5, 2016 at 3:35pm the Northumberland detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 45 near Coyle Road involving a southbound dump truck and a pedestrian. No other vehicles were involved.
The pedestrian, an 11 year old boy, was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance with life threatening injuries and later succumbed to those injuries.
County Road 45 remains closed to traffic between Merrill Road and Coyle Road to allow for the investigation. Detachment officers are being assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI). Northbound traffic is being re-routed at Merrill Road west to Webb Road, north to Coyle Road then east back to County Road 45. Southbound traffic follows the same detour route.
