(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Sunday January 18, 2014, shortly before 2 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a snowmobile collision on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail (O.F.S.C.) south of Listowel.
Investigation revealed that three snowmobiles were travelling south bound on the rail bed snowmobile trail, between Line 81 and 78, when the last of the three machines veered towards the ditch causing the driver to lose control. The sled struck a number of trees on the east side of the trail. An eleven year old male passenger of the snowmobile, a Township of Perth East resident, sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The male was transported approximately 500 meters to the intersection of Hwy 23 and Line 81 by fellow riders to an awaiting ambulance and police personnel.
The injured male was subsequently transported to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Arctic Cat snowmobile was severely damaged.
