(North Stormont) – On April 9, 2016 at approximately 10:11am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of an illegal gaming activity occurring at a property on Tolmies Corners Road, North Stormont Township. Officers observed and intercepted live cock fighting activities with several participants present. Eleven (11) adult males were arrested. A quantity of roosters and equipment were seized.
Gerald TESSIER (82) of South Stormont Township is charged with;
– Keeping Cockpit
– Cause Damage or Injury to Animal or Bird – Fail to Provide suitable/Adequate Food, Water, Care or Shelter
– Cruelty to Animals – Encourage, Aid or Assist in Fighting or Baiting
Ronald BELL (61) and Norman REDICK (55) both of Plympton-Wyoming, Ontario, Philip PATENAUDE (44) and Gerard DELORME (56) both of North Stormont Township, Richard PATENAUDE (62) and Eric THOMPSON (69) both of North Dundas Township, Hector RACUYA (55) and Arturo SUMAYO (57) both of Montreal, Quebec, Richard MCCORMICK (69) of York, Ontario and Thomas CARTER (87) of London, Ontario are each charged with;
– Cause Damage or Injury to Animal or Bird – Fail to Provide suitable/Adequate Food, Water, Care or Shelter
– Cruelty to Animals – Encourage, Aid or Assist in Fighting or Baiting
All accused were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall On June 21, 2016.
SD&G OPP, with the assistance of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) continue the investigation.
