Two Heroes Stop Murder In Guelph

A Guelph man is charged with attempted murder after a woman was severely injured Wednesday morning.

At approximately 11:45 a.m. police were called for a disturbance outside a home in the area of William Street and Cassino Avenue. Investigation revealed a female in her 50s was attacked in the driveway by a male in his 60s who was known to her. The victim was struck repeatedly in the head with an object.

Two other adults at the home intervened. Subsequently they both sustained injuries as well.  Ultimately the suspect was restrained by one of the adults until police arrived moments later.

All involved parties were known to each other. The victim sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A 69-year-old Guelph man is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
