Suspended Street Racer Too Drunk To Find Exit Arrested

A Guelph townhouse complex proved too confusing for an impaired driver early Thursday, after his suspicious driving prompted a call to police.

Approximately 12:15 a.m., the Guelph Police Service were called to a complex on Gordon Street near Arkell Road. The caller indicated the driver seemed unable to locate the exit and the caller believed he might be impaired.

Police responded and located the vehicle in the complex. The driver admitted consuming alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening and subsequently failed a roadside breath test.

A 30-year-old Guelph male is charged with impaired operation and impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration. It was learned his driver’s license was suspended for street racing and he was additionally charged with driving while suspended.

His driver’s license was immediately suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

The male will appear in court February 19, 2021.
