(PETROLIA, ON) – On June 23, 2021 at 12:45 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding a possible break and enter to a residence on Garfield Avenue.
Officers attended and confirmed the building had been entered unlawfully. Officers confirmed with the homeowner that several firearms had been taken during the break and enter.
The investigators, including Forensic Identification Services and Lambton County Crime Unit members, learned the identity of the individual responsible who was subsequently taken into custody. During the arrest, officers located the stolen firearms and a prohibited weapon.
Herbert MCDONALD, 45-years-old of St. Clair Township has been charged with:
- Break and enter a place and steal a firearm.
- Unauthorized possession of weapon.
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (five counts).
- Possession of a firearm obtained by crime (five counts).
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (two counts).
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm (five counts).
The accused has been held in custody following a bail hearing.
