Repeat Offender Sends Two To Hospital

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On July 1, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 401, South-West Oxford Township.

Members of Oxford OPP along with South-West Oxford Fire Services and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene.

Investigation determined that a vehicle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole.

Two passengers were ejected from the vehicle. One was transported to hospital via land ambulance and one was air lifted by Air ORNGE with serious injuries. 

The driver fled the area on foot and was located nearby a short time later. The individual was taken into custody and transported to hospital to be treated for injuries sustained as a result of the collision.

As a result, Brandon MARCHANT, 32-years-old of London was charged with the following offences:

  •  Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  •  Dangerous Operation
  •  Failure to Stop After Accident
  •  Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2
  •  Driving While Under Suspension
  •  Use Altered Plate

The accused remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for today.
