(ST. CLAIR TWP, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident in the early morning hours of December 31, 2020 on Riverside Drive, St. Clair Township. One party was pronounced deceased at the scene, and one party was arrested at the scene.
The investigation is being conducted under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services and Lambton OPP Crime Unit.
The victim has been identified as Cheryl VANHUIZEN, 51 years-old of Corunna.
Shawn TROWBRIDGE, 51 years-old of Corunna, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder, pursuant to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice and was remanded into custody.
This is an isolated incident and there is no concern for the public’s safety.
