The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating an individual wanted in a Robbery / Shooting investigation.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 10:05 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at Fairview Mall, in the Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East area.
It is reported that:
- a male suspect attended the mall
- the suspect entered a jewellery store and stole a quantity of merchandise
- a member of the mall security team confronted the suspect
- during the interaction, the security officer was shot
- the suspect fled the area in a white van, travelling southbound on Don Mills Road
- the white van was later recovered in the Shaughnessy Boulevard and George Henry Boulevard area
- the suspect then fled that area in a black Honda Accord
The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up, grey pants, a blue baseball cap, a white medical mask, and black shoes. There were flecks of white paint on his clothing.
Through investigation, the suspect has been identified as Kyle Douglas Prouse, 53, of Montreal. He also has ties to Toronto and Vancouver. He is also wanted in connection with a break and enter investigation in Durham Region in August 2023.
An image of the suspect and suspect vehicle have been released.
