Fatal Collision

(South Dundas Twp, ON) – One person is deceased after a three-vehicle collision south of Winchester.

Officers with the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), as well as the South Dundas Fire Service and Cornwall-SD&G Paramedics, responded to the scene just after 3:30 p.m. on June 27, 2024, on Bank Street, between Winchester and Williamsburg.

The collision involved two sport utility vehicles (SUV) and a transport truck.

The driver of one sport utility vehicle, a 50-year-old-man from Morrisburg, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The initial investigation has found that the transport was heading south in the southbound lane when one northbound SUV moved into the southbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the transport. The second SUV then collided with the wreckage.

The transport driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the other SUV driver was checked-out by paramedics and had no serious injuries.

The investigation by SD&G OPP is continuing, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the Technical Collision Investigation Team.
