Brittany NAYANOOKEESIC Arrested For Drunk Driving

(GREENSTONE) – One individual is facing impaired charges following a R.I.D.E program in Greenstone.

On March 16, 2024, just before 12:00 p.m., members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E program in the area of Highway 584 in the Municipality of Greenstone. A vehicle approached the program, and the driver was requested to provide a breath sample.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Greenstone OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Brittany NAYANOOKEESIC, 28-years-old, of Geraldton, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Cannabis Control Act with:

·      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Greenstone on April 18, 2024.

The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.

Drivers are reminded that the Mandatory Alcohol Screening law allows police with an approved alcohol screening device to demand a roadside breath sample from any lawfully stopped driver without having reasonable suspicion that a driver is alcohol impaired.
