Armed Robbery Update

On January 20, 2021, members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Robbery Unit arrested an 18-year-old Mississauga male in Guelph in relation to this robbery. Police also recovered a firearm during the arrest. The male has been charged with Robbery with a Firearm, Forcible Confinement, Point Firearm, Weapons Dangerous, Carry a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000 and Disguise with Intent. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on January 21, 2021. Two other suspects remain outstanding. On January 14, 2021, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to reports of a robbery at a telecommunications store located in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Main Street in Cambridge. Three suspects entered the store, and two of the suspects threatened the employees with firearms. The suspects fled the store with an undisclosed amount of electronic products. They were last seen driving south on Franklin Street in a blue vehicle. The employees did not report any physical injuries. Approximately one hour later, at 5:10 p.m., a suspicious vehicle was observed in the parking lot of the Preston Arena on Hamilton Street in Cambridge. The individuals observed at the Preston Arena appeared to be similar in appearance to the males from the robbery. The vehicle exited the parking lot of the arena and was last seen driving towards King Street. Investigators are asking to speak with any witnesses to either incident. Investigators are also appealing to anyone who may have dash-cam footage from these areas at the time of the incidents. The suspects have been described as brown males in black clothing, who were all wearing face masks.
