Teen Arrested After Crashing Into Bush

(HURON EAST, ON) – A concerned citizen’s call to police about a possible impaired driver resulted in police arresting and charging a young driver with several driving offences.

On July 17, 2021 at approximately 7:17 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a possible impaired driver operating a pickup truck near the G2G Trail off of McNabb Line. Officers responded to the area and upon arrival they located the pickup truck crashed into a bush off of McNabb Line. 

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted several signs of impairment thus the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation. The driver was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were later provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

Mackenzie SANFORD, 19 years of age, from Field, ON has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus, Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available, Novice Driver BAC Above Zero & Young Driver BAC Above Zero. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 30, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
