Student On Fire At F.E. Madill Fire Update

(NORTH HURON, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with emergency services responded to a fire in the Township of North Huron.

On April 7th, 2026 shortly after 8:00 a.m., members of the Huron County OPP, along with Huron County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and North Huron Fire Department, responded to a reported of an individual that was on fire at F.E. Madill Secondary School.

The individual sustained life-threatening injuries and is in stable but critical condition after being transported by Ornge Air Ambulance to a trauma centre. There are no other reported injuries.

Following the school evacuation, fire crews assessed the building and have cleared the area.

John Street East and Summit Drive surrounding the school have been reopened as Huron OPP along with the West Region Forensic Identification Services (IDENT) have released the scene back to Avon Maitland District School Board.
