(HURON EAST, ON) – A Huron East resident is facing an Impaired Operation charge following a snowmobile crash that took place west of Atwood.
At approximately 6:00 p.m. on January 27, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Paramedic Services and Grey Township Fire Department responded to the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail located between Henfryn Line and Krauter Line to investigate a snowmobile crash.
The driver was transported from the scene to a nearby hospital and while speaking with the driver police formed suspicion the driver had consumed some alcohol. An approved screening device test was completed at the hospital and the driver registered a Fail. Two breath tests were later provided to an Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.
Investigators learned the driver lost control of his snowmobile and was ejected from his machine while overtaking another snowmobile. The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash.
