Second Degree Murder – 17 Year Old Victim

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On December 7, 2021, members of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police Service and the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), arrested a resident of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation in connection with a death that occurred on June 27, 2021.

 Tristan GROSBECK, 25-years-old of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, has been charged with Second Degree Murder under section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. The accused was held in custody for a scheduled court appearance on December 8, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice in London.

 On June 27, 2021, emergency services responded to a report of a disturbance at a Switzer Drive address located at Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Two people were transported to hospital, where 17-year-old Wayne Donald GROSBECK of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, was pronounced deceased.

 The investigation was conducted in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
