Search Continues For Missing Child

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Emergency service personnel are continuing search efforts in the Municipality of West Perth for a missing child.

On March 06, 2022, just before 10:30 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Perth Fire Department, and Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a report of a missing 10-year-old girl who was last seen at the river outside of Mitchell. Currently, the Stratford, St. Marys, and Huron Area Search and Rescue Swift Water Rescue teams, along with the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Underwater Search and Rescue, and Aviation searched for the child.

Again today, there have been deteriorating conditions along the water edges, and the public is still asked to stay away from the fast moving water. While a number of citizens have offered to assist in the search, the area of the river is not safe, and could hinder the rescue efforts.

Further updates will be provided as they are available.
