SANGSTER Facing Impaired Driving Charge

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A traffic stop last night in Exeter has led to the arrest and charge of Impaired Operation against an Exeter resident.

At approximately 10:43 p.m. on November 30, 2021 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling in Exeter when he observed a vehicle travelling on Anne Street with a broken taillight. Upon stopping the vehicle the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment by way of a drug.

A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted and the driver performed poorly. As a result the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing. A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) completed an evaluation on the driver and the driver was deemed to be impaired by a drug.

Matthew SANGSTER, 32 years of age, from Exeter has been charged with Operation While Impaired. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 7, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
