Repeat Offender Arrested Following Foot Chase In Wingham

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a local man after he was caught with a stolen snowmobile this week in Wingham. 

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on January 31, 2022 a Huron OPP officer took notice of a man that parked a snowmobile in a suspicious manner at a gas station in Wingham. When the driver of the snowmobile went into the gas station the officer completed some checks on the machine and it was quickly determined it was recently stolen from Saugeen Shores. 

When the operator returned to the snowmobile he immediately took off running when he noticed the officer. A foot pursuit ensued and the suspect initially escaped custody however he was eventually tracked to a nearby backyard and was taken into custody. 

 Michael VOCK, 44 years of age of no fixed address has been charged with:

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

·        Escape Lawful Custody

·        Resist Peace Officer

·        Fail to Comply with Release Order – 6 counts

·        Operation While Prohibited – 5 counts

·        Driving While Under Suspension

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 3, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
