(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid numerous charges against a Goderich resident following two theft occurrences that took place in Goderich this week.
On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, Huron OPP officers received a report of a theft of a laptop that took place at the library in Goderich. Then yesterday afternoon officers received a report of a cell phone that was stolen from a business located on Huron Road.
Following some investigation police identified and arrested the involved suspect. The suspect resisted arrest and tried to flee however he was unsuccessful. A search incident to arrest revealed the accused to be in possession of the stolen cell phone and laptop.
Aaron WEDGE, 31 years of age from Goderich has been charged with: Theft Under $5,000 – two counts, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – two counts, Resist Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with Probation Order – nine counts.
The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 10, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
