Racer Caught On Huron Road

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A driver from London is facing a Racing charge and some stiffer penalties following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend.

On September 12, 2021 at approximately 9:16 a.m. a Huron OPP officer was conducting RADAR patrols on Huron Road near Whys Line when the officer observed a compact vehicle travelling eastbound at a very high rate of speed.  

A RADAR device was utilized and the speed of the racing car was measured in excess of 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was subsequently charged. Alexandra HEWITT, 27 years of age, from London has been charged with Racing. The defendant will now have to attend Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich on October 5, 2021 to answer to the charge.

The involved vehicle has been impounded for 14 days and an immediate 30-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver. 

All drivers should be aware on September 12th, 2021 roadside driver’s license suspensions under section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) increased from seven (7) to thirty (30) days for all offences listed in Regulation 455/07.
