Passed Out Behind Wheel In Listowel – Richard YANG

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A driver from Waterloo was found asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle on a North Perth road last week.

On April 22, 2022, at approximately 10:20 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on general patrol travelling on Argyle Avenue in Listowel, when they observed a vehicle parked horizontally in the northbound lane. The vehicle had its reverse lights on but was sitting stationary.

The officer approached the vehicle and observed the lone occupant who appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat.

During the investigation, the officer determined the driver was impaired. They were arrested, and transported to a local operations centre for further testing

As a result, Richard YANG, 39, of Waterloo, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
