Novice Driver Facing Impaired Charge

(HOWICK, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision investigated by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week has resulted in police charging a Novice class driver with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

On Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 6:35 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Fordwich Line near Driftwood Beach.

Minutes later Minto Fire Department, Bruce County Emergency Medical Services and Huron County OPP officers arrived on scene to find a compact vehicle in the ditch with extensive damage. The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer had reason to believe the driver had consumed some alcohol. As a result an approved screening device was used to test the driver and the driver registered a fail.

An Intoxilizer Technician then conducted breath tests on the driver and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.

Colton LORMAND, 27 years of age, from Clifford has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus & Novice Driver BAC Above Zero.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 13, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

An automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and his vehicle was impounded.
