(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A Sarnia resident will be making a trip back to Huron County later this summer for a court date following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week.
On Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at approximately 10:34 p.m. a Huron County OPP officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway just north of Grand Bend when a vehicle travelling southbound was observed speeding well over the speed limit.
A traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with the driver officers noted open alcohol inside the vehicle. Additionally some observations were made that the driver had been drinking alcohol. As such a roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Grand Bend OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were later provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.
Nicholas BERNIER, 27 years of age from Sarnia has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 30, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
