More Impaired Charges

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested four drivers this Victoria Day long weekend with alcohol and drug related driving offences.

On May 22, 2022, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted to check driver sobriety due to driving observations made by the officer on Perth Line 86 in the Municipality of North Perth.

Aaron SCHMIDT, 23, of Gowanstown, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

On May 23, 2022, just after 12:00 a.m., a driver entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on Main Street North in the Township of Perth East. The investigating officer determined that the driver had consumed cannabis earlier in the day. A Standard Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) was conducted.

As a result, Dennis NEILL, 51, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Possession of over 30g dried cannabis

On May 23, 2022, just before 5:00 p.m., another driver entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on Perth Line 20 in the Municipality of West Perth. The driver was showing signs of alcohol consumption. An Approved Screening Device was used, and the driver was arrested, and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Nancy RADER, 68, of Dashwood, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On May 23, 2022, just after 8:00 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted for speeding on Line 36 in the Municipality of West Perth. The officer observed the vehicle to be unsafe, and during the investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. A Standard Field Sobriety Testing was conducted, but a Drug Recognition Evaluation Demand was refused.

As a result, Colleen BAILLIE, 58, of Mitchell, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Traffic in Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth)

–      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

–      Operate Unsafe Vehicle

–      Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit

All of the accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charged. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per stature.
