Drunk Driver Takes Off From Police

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A resident of Mitchell is facing five criminal charges following an incident that took place in the Municipality of West Perth.   

On September 6, 2022, just after 6:30 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of a possible Impaired Driver on Line 36 in West Perth.

An officer observed the vehicle travelling on Line 36 and proceeded to stop the motor vehicle when the vehicle fled. The officer was later flagged down by a resident on Cobourg Street West, reporting that the accused was at their residence.

During the investigation, it was apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

As a result, Kyle FENWICK, 42, of Mitchell, has been charged with:

–      Flight from peace officer

–      Dangerous operation

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
