Drunk Driver Ditches Vehicle Near Clinton

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Central Huron resident is facing Impaired Operation charges following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Family Day this week.

On Monday, February 21, 2022 at approximately 1:08 p.m., a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling on Base Line north of Clinton when the officer came across a sport utility vehicle in the east ditch.

Upon checking on the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit. 

Gloria WESTERHOUT, 64 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 28, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
