(GODERICH, ON) – A traffic stop in Goderich earlier this week has led to an arrest and charges against an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident.
On Monday, December 6, 2021 at about 7:07 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a possible impaired driver travelling into Goderich. Shortly after an OPP officer parked at the north end of Goderich spotted the suspect vehicle travelling into Goderich. The officer followed the suspect vehicle a short distance and a traffic stop was initiated.
Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer observed signs that the driver was impaired by alcohol. As such the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.
Richard BOEL, 67 years of age, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 17, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
