Car Rally In Goderich This Weekend According To OPP

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Town of Goderich continue to prepare for an unsolicited and unsanctioned car rally event that may be heading to Goderich this weekend.

Similar events in other areas resulted in numerous car rally participants engaging in illegal acts including mischief, dangerous driving, impaired driving, disturbing the peace, break and entering, and other driving related offences.

Huron County OPP and the Town of Goderich recognize the negative impact these unorganized and illegal events can bring to a community thus significant resources are being utilized to protect and serve the community.

As always, responsible, respectful, and lawful visitors are always welcomed to the area however those looking to attend to jeopardize the safety of citizens and the community with risky, illegal and dangerous actions are asked to stay home.

Local citizens and visitors to Goderich should be prepared for possible temporary road closures. As specific delays or closures become known, Huron County OPP will forward information to media outlets for broadcast and will post advisories on the OPP West Region Twitter account.

Currently all roadways remain open for travel throughout the Town of Goderich.
