BOYD From Bayfield Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Bayfield resident is facing an Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus charge following a traffic stop that took place this past weekend near Bayfield.

On Saturday, May 21, 2022 at approximately 9:13 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a complaint of a motorist that was operating while possibly being impaired. A few minutes later a Huron OPP officer observed the suspect vehicle travelling westbound on Bayfield Road at a high rate of speed over the posted 90 km/h speed limit.

A traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol. A roadside test was completed and the driver registered a Fail. Additionally, the investigating officer located open alcohol inside the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two breath samples were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.

Julie BOYD, 53 years of age from Bayfield has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). The accused has since been released with a court appearance scheduled for June 27, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
