Arrest On Blyth Road

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener resident with Impaired Operation & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend. 

On Sunday, May 8, 2022 at approximately 9:07 p.m. Huron County OPP officers received information about a car that was travelling on Blyth Road near Clyde Line in an erratic manner. Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and a few minutes later an officer located the vehicle just outside of Blyth.

A traffic stop was initiated and upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying several signs of impairment. Additionally, the investigating officer observed open alcohol inside the vehicle. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit. 

Erica MERRICK, 41 years of age from Kitchener has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 13, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
