24 Year Old Facing Charges After Hit And Run – Name Released

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A citizen’s call about a possible impaired driver resulted in police arresting and charging a Burlington resident with Impaired Operation and Fail to Remain this past weekend.

On July 31, 2021 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a possible impaired driver that was seen travelling north on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway from Elliott’s Grove Side Road. Officers learned the driver failed to remain at the scene of a crash after colliding with a telephone box and a stop sign.

Officers immediately began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and just over an hour later police located the suspect vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer made some observations that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was then placed under arrest and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests; two samples of breath were later provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

As a result, the driver 24-year-old Jenna ANDERSON, from Burlington has been charged with:

·        Operation while Impaired – Alcohol

·        Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

·        Fail to remain

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 16, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

An automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and the involved motor vehicle was impounded.
