19 Year Old Caught Going 2X Speed Limit – Vehicle Impounded

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind all drivers that speeding by over 50 km/h over the limit will cost you big time.

An expensive fine, immediate licence suspension, vehicle impoundment, demerit points and a court date are just some of the consequences you can expect.

On May 4, 2021 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was parked in Woodham conducting stationary RADAR observations of vehicles when he spotted a vehicle racing southbound on Road 164. A RADAR device was used and the speed of the racing pickup was measured at a speed more than double the 60 km/h speed limit.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was subsequently charged. Trevor DEJONG, 19 years of age from West Perth has been charged with Perform a Stunt – Speeding by 50 km/h or more. He will now have to attend Provincial Offences Act court on June 15, 2021 to answer to the charge.

His driver’s licence has been suspended and his motor vehicle has been impounded for a week.
