(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Stratford driver after they were speeding more than 50 km/hr over the limit in the Township of Perth East.
On June 7, 2022, just after 7:00 p.m., a police officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 55 in Perth East after it was found to be travelling in excess of 130km/hr in an 80km/h limit zone.
While the officer was speaking with the driver, they noted the novice driver had been drinking alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized.
As a result, an 18-year-old resident of Stratford has been charged with:
– Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed
– Novice driver B.A.C. above 0
A 30-day driving suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
It is a condition of the driver’s license of every Novice driver and every young driver (under the age of 22) that their blood alcohol concentration must be zero.
