(Peterborough County, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were active across Peterborough County initiating R.I.D.E. programs in an effort to remove impaired drivers from our roadways.
Since the Festive R.I.D.E. launch on November 21, 2016, the Peterborough OPP have conducted 125 spot checks, issued 5 warn range licence suspensions and charged 6 people with Criminal Code Driving Offences related to alcohol consumption.
Police responded to a single vehicle collision on Yankee Line last night, shortly before 11:30pm. The driver of the vehicle was found to have been drinking.
Gary HARRINGTON (age 64) of Cavan-Monaghan Township was arrested at the scene and charged with:
Impaired driving
Driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough. Ontario on January 26, 2017.
