(LAMBTON, ON) – On Sunday January 1st, 2017 shortly after 4:30 a.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a request from the Sarnia Police Service to check a residence in the Village of Point Edward for person of interest in relation to an ongoing criminal investigation by the Sarnia Police Service.
Members of the Lambton County OPP attended a residence in the 300 block of Alexandria Avenue, Village of Point Edward. Responding members of the Lambton OPP attempted to communicate with a subject inside the residence who refused to cooperate with police.
Based on information obtained during the investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) along with the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit were requested and dispatched to area.
Alexandria Avenue between St. Clair Street and Albert Street is presently closed and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.
Investigation is currently on-going in conjunction with the Sarnia Police Service. An update will be released once further information is obtained.
