(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On February 26, 2017 at 8:16 a.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police received a call about a vehicle travelling northbound through the Parry Sound area. The driver of the vehicle was believed to have been consuming alcohol.
At 9:31 a.m., police located the vehicle on Highway 69. The officer spoke with the driver and determined that he had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation;
Kevin MORNINGSTAR, 48 years of age, from Mississauga First Nation was arrested and charged with;
Impaired Care and Control, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
Care or Control over 80 mgs, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CC
Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence, contrary to section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act
The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 2, 2017 to answer to his charges.
The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
