(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On February 25, 2017, shortly after 10:00 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a threat complaint at a local restaurant on Brunswick Walk in the City of Elliot Lake.
Police learned that a male had threatened to harm the restaurant owner and would initiate confrontations when outside of his restaurant.
As a result, David NIELSON, 52 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:
Criminal Harassment-Repeatedly Communicate, contrary to section 264(2)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC.
The accused is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on
April 4, 2017.
DOMESTIC – MALE CHARGED WITH FAIL TO COMPLY
(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On February 25, 2017, shortly after 4:30 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information that a male had breached his conditions in the City of Elliot Lake.
Police learned, a male was on conditions not to communicate with his ex-wife and he had just placed a telephone call to her. Police located the ex-husband at an apartment building on Beckett Boulevard. The ex-husband had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath when he was arrested.
As a result, a 52 year old male, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with: Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking Given by an Officer in Charge (X2), contrary to section 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code.
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, on February 28, 2017.
FEMALE ASSAULTED BY HER HUSBAND
(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On February 28, 2017, shortly after 8:07 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Albert Street in the City of Elliot Lake.
Police learned that a married couple began to argue when the husband became aggressive towards his wife and threw a household item at her. Since last summer the husband had physically assaulted her on two separate occasions.
As a result, a 65 year old male, from Elliot Lake Ontario, was charged with:
Assault with a Weapon-Spousal, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
Assault-Spousal, contrary to section 266 of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 2, 2017.
