Two Arrested For Cheese Theft

(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County detachment investigated a break and enter at a Plank Line, South West Oxford Township, Oxford County, Ontario address. On Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at approximately 10:32 a.m., police received a report of a break and enter at the Village Cheese Mill.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that between Monday, February 20, 2017 and Tuesday, February 21, 2017, unknowns attended the address and forcibly gained entry into the business. Once inside, unknowns entered a walk-in cooler and removed a large quantity of cheese. Unknowns then attended the front of the store and removed a large quantity of Canadian currency along with several items from the front of the store which consisted of several DVD’S, fudge, meat sticks, Maple Syrup, shortbread, garbage tags, chocolate bars, stamps, international books, pre-stamped envelopes and Marilyn Monroe Stamps. The theft was valued at approximately $6,200 dollars.

OPP are advising that two suspects have been arrested and charged with this incident and previous break in at the same location on December 27, 2016. Charged with the following Criminal Code offences are:

Robert MACKENZIE, 49-years-of-age, of London, ON

Break and Enter (2 counts)

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5,000

Amy SMITH, 40-years-of-age, of London, ON

Break and Enter (2 counts)

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5,000

Fail to Comply with a Probation Order (2 counts)

Both parties were held in custody pending bail hearings. OPP would like to thank the public and media for their assistance with the investigation.
