21 Year Old Tractor Driver Killed On Hwy 6 After Being Rear-Ended By Pickup Truck

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision at a Highway 6, Woodhouse, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, April 9, 2017 at approximately 3:49 p.m., OPP and Norfolk County Paramedics attended a motor vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and farm tractor.

Through the course of investigation, it has been determined that a white coloured farm tractor was being operated by a 21-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario and was travelling southbound on Highway 6 on the shoulder of the Highway. A Ram pickup truck being operated by 55-year-old male of Haldimand County, Ontario was also travelling southbound on Highway 6 when the driver of the pickup truck struck the tractor from behind causing the tractor to enter the west ditch where it rolled and ejected the driver.

The operator of the tractor, 21-year-old Travis OBRIEN suffered serious life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the attending coroner.

The driver of the pickup did not suffer any injuries.

Technical Traffic Collision investigators assisted with the investigation.

Highway 6 was closed between East Quarter Line Road and Second Concession of Woodhouse for approximately six (6) hours to allow for further investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
