Stephen CHURCHILL – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Yesterday, April 20, 2017 shortly after 6pm, officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a driving complaint from a concerned citizen. The vehicle was northbound on Highway 35 approaching Lindsay.

OPP officers located the vehicle and initiated an investigation. As a result the driver, 61 year old Stephen CHURCHILL of Port Perry, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC

Driver Fail to Surrender Licence contrary to section 33(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle contrary to section 7(5)(a) HTA

Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on May 25, 2017.
