35 Year Old From Clifford Arrested – Name Released

(HOWICK, ON) – A 35-year-old from Clifford has been charged with Over 80 following a traffic stop that took place near Fordwich on July 19, 2017.

Just before 9:00 p.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was called to assist a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) commercial vehicle inspector with a traffic stop at the intersection of Harriston Road (County Road #87) and Fordwich Line.

While speaking with the male driver the OPP officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Accordingly, a roadside screening test was conducted which the driver failed. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the North Wellington OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

35-year-old Steven TOPHAM from Clifford has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 21, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
